Thermacell sells pest repellents with its main product being portable mosquito repellents. There are two lines: battery powered that uses liquid repellent and a butane powered that uses a rectangle-shaped dry mat.

A professionally installed home version called the LIV Smart System covers a much larger area, like a back yard.

If you live in an area with ticks, the Tick Control Tube is a nice low tech solution that works. Mice will take home the cotton-like material in the tube for their bedding, and while it has no effect on the mice, it will, however, kill any ticks that try to feed on them.
