Lenovo Legion & Yoga S940 (aka Ideapad 940S) @Pepcom 2019
For 2019, Lenovo improves on their Legion gaming laptops with internal updates, including:
- Coffee Lake generation of Intel Core i7 processors
- Brighter display
- 144Hz refresh rate
- NVidia GeForce RTX GPU
Lenovo’s other new laptop is the Yoga S940 (aka IdeaPad 940S in the US). It’ll be the thinnest laptop in their lineup and resembles a smartphone when you look closely at the display, with a curved edge for a sleek look and feel.
The screen seems to be where they focused a lot of their attention because it’s a 4K display with a 90% screen to body ratio, and incorporates Dolby Vision. They also have a “notch” on the top bezel (like a smartphone) where they add IR cameras for smart facial recognition. Lenovo says that will allow convenient log in using Windows Hello and implementation of AI security features (like detecting when someone’s looking over your shoulder when you’re working with sensitive inforrmation.)
Entertainment isn’t an afterthought with the inclusion of a front facing Dolby Atmos speaker system.
This laptop is what Lenovo considers their top of the line consumer clamshell for consumers.
