The Orba 3 by Artiphon is more than just a playable instrument; it’s got a built-in mic that lets you sample (record) any sound that, in turn, lets you create your own kind of playable sound-of-a-thing. It’s really fun to watch someone play around with, and super portable (being around the size of a hockey puck).

They also have the more keyboard/guitar-like Chorda, which brings to mind a blast from the past in Guitar Hero.
