It’s Shure’s 100 year Anniversary! They’re celebrating with the MoveMic 88+ wireless mic that pairs directly to your smartphone or tablet – without a receiver! It’s a great way for obtaining high quality audio with a minimal amount of gear.

The mic connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5 using Shure’s MOTIV Video or Audio apps (this is required to connect to your phone). There is 3.5mm jack on the bottom side for wired monitoring of audio PRIOR to recording.

To connect to other kinds of devices (like DSLRs), there is a kit that comes with a receiver. The mic connects to the receiver instead of your phone, after which a 3.5mm or USB-C cable is used for plugging in the audio to whatever device.

Of Note: Shure doesn’t specify how the mic connects to the receiver, so we assume it’s also Bluetooth. While this may be fine for audio only recordings, it’s a totally different story when shooting videos since Bluetooth is known to lag. In other words, your video and audio might be off-sync at times. We haven’t tested it ourselves, so we can’t say for sure.
