Funko Games combines tabletop gaming with Funko designed Pop characters for added visual appeal. Funkoverse is their first strategy game where you can mix and match characters from different comics and shows to take advantage of their power. From my understanding, you pick your base game/universe and can then add additional characters from expansion sets.
An example of mix & match is if you have a powerful attacker like Voldemort (playing the Harry Potter game) who sucks at defense. You’ll want a strong defender watching his back while he cools down – and who better to do that than Wonder Woman (from DC Comics)? She can defend to help minimize the damage.
There’s lots to choose from too – Golden Girls from the tv show, Aggretsuko from anime, Jurrasic Park, Jaws and other base games and expansions. As far as gaming goes, it looks like great fun for people who’d enjoy a visual version of pen-to-paper Dungeons & Dragons or card-type Magic the Gathering.
