Roku, the company that pioneered video streaming to the tv set has announced several new products in their lineup. They include the Roku Ultra and the Streambar.
Roku Ultra
New product announcements include the Roku Ultra (MSRP: $99.99) which includes Dolby Vision for vivid picture quality and Dolby Atmos for more realism in the sound. The remote has a headphone jack for private listening and voice commands too.
Under the hood, they’ve increased the wireless range by ~50% and also added BlueTooth. A great product for avid streamers committed to cutting the cord. This is Roku’s most powerful and fastest player ever.
Roku Streambar
Also recently announced is Roku’s 2-in-1 product, the 4k Streambar (MSRP: $129.99). It’s lightweight and egg carton sized, offering great sound and a high quality video stream via HDMI cable. I mean, how many people can honestly say they love the sound coming out of their tv speakers?
It’s also got Bluetooth built in so you can connect and stream music from your smartphone.
Roku has a whole slew of other products, but if you’re just starting out, the Roku Express is affordable for a first time streamer, costing less than $30. Or if you’re the type who travels often for work, the Roku Streaming Stick + is a great option. It’s an HDMI stick so it’s super portable and offers 4K picture quality for $50.
Peacock & HBO Max
Peacock is now available on the Roku platform (you can watch all the Harry Potter movies, yay!) But HBO Max is not. At least not yet. Roku assures us that we’ll hear about it if and when they strike a deal.
