Acer’s Latest Laptops – Spin 5, Switch 7, Triton 700, Helios 300, Chromebook, Cestus 500 Mouse
[dropcap]A[/dropcap]cer walks us through their latest line-up of laptops and 2-in-1’s and share what makes each one so special. Watch the video above or read about their products below – unless of course a Lenovo flagship laptop is your product of choice.
This laptop’s screen can be flipped backwards for use as a tablet. Their “dual torque hinge” adds resistance so the screen doesn’t get pushed back when you use the touchscreen. It’s got a nice aluminum chassis for a premium feel, but since metal interferes with wifi connectivity, they’ve designed something called an ExoAmp antennae to broadcast and receive stronger wifi signals than a metal body usually allows.
Aspire Switch 7
A detachable 2-in-1 that comes with a Wacom stylus pen and a backlit keyboard. There’s an integrated kickstand that melds right into the screen when it’s not in use, and very easy to operate (you push the screen down on a flat surface and adjust the tilt as you please.)
It’s extremely thin due to a fanless design even though it comes with a high performance Core i7 processor and Nvidia discrete graphics. Instead of air, they use two “Liquid Loop” cooling systems (one each for CPU and GPU) that has the added advantage of preventing fan noise and dust build-up (dust insulates heat, lowering performance.)
The 15.6″ laptop has an aluminum chassis and a Pentium quad core processor. And while the battery life is rated for 12 hours, the testing team at Acer has clocked as much as 15 hours of use. This model currently sells for $399.
Predator Triton 700 Gaming Laptop
Acer’s flagship gaming laptop has just about every high end component installed:
– Intel Core i7 processor
– Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080
– An extremely thin 18mm height chassis
– 120Hz G-sync panel
– Mechanical keyboard, customizable 16.8 million color combos
The cooling system for such a beast includes 5 heat pipes and specially designed fans. The cooling is so good Acer says, that the gpu can be overclocked. But why overclock a GTX 1080 when it’s currently the fastest discrete videocard available for a laptop anyway?
Cestus 500 Mouse
Their first foray into accessories, this ambidexterous gaming mouse (for either left or right handed gamers) has dual switches for mouse button sensitivity. The Omron switches can be toggled to 50 million or 20 million clicks. It has replaceable side wings for gripping purposes and adds finger stability. It’s slated to sell for $99.
Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop
This laptop is the best selling gaming laptop in the United States, offering great specs for the price. One of those best bangs-for-the-buck. It’s got a GTX 1050 discrete graphics card and two fans for cooling.
